STAR is the annual national rally of the HSTA. We been to 7 or 8 STARs in various parts of the country and in 2006, the rally was centered in Avon, Colorado. Most years we ride to STAR but Avon is a long way from eastern TN and given that we'd have to cross the the plains during hot weather, we elected to trailer this time. Good friends Cliff and Mary traveled with us and we all went out about a week early to ride in the Rockies before the actual STAR event.
We trailered to the event Hotel in Avon, unloaded the bikes and then rode to the Grand Canyon and back. That was a 5 day excursion and we arrived back in Avon just in time for the start of STAR. We took lots of pictures, particular Mary who shot many of her pictures from the back seat of their bike. I didn't know how those "moving" pictures would turn out but they ended up being a great photo journal of our trip. The photos from that vantage point capture the visual essence of traveling by motorcycle and every time I look at them, I'm right back there in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Arizona again.
There are 5 web pages here - well over 1,000 pictues in all and probably more than anyone cares to view. Except for the Dual Sport page, the web pages were created programmatically on the picture folders and I haven't attempted to edit or cull the raw pictures. They're all there, good, bad and ugly. Enjoy!
